COZUMEL EXCURSIONS
Cozumel is Mexico’s largest island, only 45 minutes away by ferry from Playa del Carmen. It’s ideal for a day trip exploring on your own with a car or scooter.
Many decades ago, Cozumel gained renown through the marine explorer Jacques Cousteau, who filmed many of his underwater shots for his documentaries there.
In Cozumel, all Caribbean cruise ships dock.
Here, you can admire not only the world’s largest cruise ships but also the multimillion-dollar yachts of world-famous personalities.
For a trip by car or scooter, you can circle the island on the approximately 40 km route.
There, you’ll find a tequila factory, the longstanding Bob Marley Bar, the Mirador Beach, Chen Rio Place, and much more.
It’s also worth visiting the lighthouse and its accompanying museum, as well as the reforested mangrove area, which was destroyed by Hurricane Wilma in 2015.
Typically, visitors to Cozumel start their four-hour snorkeling trip at 10 a.m.
Afterwards, they either continue exploring or relax in the village with a cocktail, perhaps even at the world’s smallest Hard Rock Café located at the international cruise ship port.
It may be interesting not only for honeymooners to know that the fertility goddess Ix Chel resides there,
and in her honor, there are also small pyramids and other archaeological sights to see.
COURSE OF THE EXCURSION:
Experience a four-hour snorkeling excursion in the “El Cielo” area, where you’ll visit three different locations at various depths.
All reservations for activities, tours, and excursions on the island of Cozumel are made on-site at short notice.
WHAT DOES THE EXCURSION INCLUDE?
- Good mood
- Entrance fees
- taxes
- insurance
- lunch
- Not included: Hotel pick-up and ferry tickets
RECOMMENDATION:
- Please take enough money with you for personal expenses such as souvenirs or alcoholic drinks.
- We have drinks in the minivan, but it is still advisable to carry 1 liter of water with you when you enter the archaeological sites.
- Headgear is recommended.
- Don’t forget your swimsuit.
- It is not advisable to go on tour with slippers.
- Never apply sunscreen before the tour or only biodegradable sunscreen.
- In the freshwater cenotes on the Yucatan Peninsula, strict attention is paid to water quality, as some of this water is still drunk.
- The chemicals used in conventional sunscreen destroy corals and are harmful to marine life.
For this reason, sun protection is no longer permitted in Mexico in many natural parks in the Riviera Maya and also on Cozumel.
