CATAMARAN TOURS
A catamaran tour in the Caribbean is an essential experience.
A catamaran is a boat that has two hulls.
A typical catamaran features seating and bar areas, sun decks, and shaded spots, as well as an interior area providing protection from high waves.
The advantage lies in the faster speed at which the catamaran can move.
COURSE OF THE EXCURSION:
Our catamaran tour departs from Cancun and heads to Isla Mujeres, approximately 14 km away, translated as “Women’s Island.”
After boarding the boat at 9 a.m. in Cancun, our guests will enjoy an all-inclusive beverage service.
Therefore, we start our journey to Isla Mujeres with a snorkeling trip to ensure all our guests,
including those less inclined to drink, have a memorable experience. From the catamaran, we’ll swim over the unique reef.
The Mesoamerican Reef is the second largest coral reef in the world and stretches across multiple international borders.
It is surpassed in size only by Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
Afterwards, we continue to Isla Mujeres, where guests can purchase souvenirs before we begin with a lavish lunch on the beach.
During the approximately two-hour stay at the beach, guests can also rent a golf cart and explore the small island quickly on their own.
Afterward, we sail back leisurely and will be back in Playa del Carmen by late afternoon.
WHAT DOES THE EXCURSION INCLUDE?
- Good mood
- Pick-up and drop-off at hotel lobby in air-conditioned minivan for 20 people
- Entrance fees
- taxes
- insurance
- lunch
- drinks
- Not included: The reef tax (actually impuesto federal = federal tax )
of 13 USD must be paid to the Mexican government directly at the harbor before boarding the catamaran.
RECOMMENDATION:
- Please take enough money with you for personal expenses such as souvenirs or alcoholic drinks.
- We have drinks in the minivan, but it is still advisable to carry 1 liter of water with you when you enter the archaeological sites.
- Headgear is recommended.
- Don’t forget your swimsuit.
- It is not advisable to go on tour with slippers.
- Never apply sunscreen before the tour or only biodegradable sunscreen.
- In the freshwater cenotes on the Yucatan Peninsula, strict attention is paid to water quality, as some of this water is still drunk.
- The chemicals used in conventional sunscreen destroy corals and are harmful to marine life.
For this reason, sun protection is no longer permitted in Mexico in many natural parks in the Riviera Maya and also on Cozumel.
